Simone Biles Will Perform on Tour in Louisville This Fall
I can remember the 1984 Summer Olympics when Mary Lou Retton scored a perfect ten on the vault. 25 years ago this summer, Kerri Strug vaulted the women's team to a gold medal on an injured ankle. I'm not sure gymnastics has been as exciting as it is right now with the impressive performances from four-time gold medalist Simone Biles.
When the year-delayed Tokyo Summer Olympics begin on July 23rd, I'll be glued to my TV waiting on the US Women's Gymnastics team to bring home more gold and to see just what Biles comes up with. Now a record-setting seven-time world champion, all eyes will be on the 24-year-old. Ahead of Tokyo, Biles has announced the "Gold Over America" Tour will be making a stop in Louisville at the KFC Yum! Center on Saturday, October 23rd.
And Biles is bringing with her on tour, silver medalist and 2016 Olympic teammate Laurie Hernandez, All-American, and NCAA champ Katelyn Ohashi, 2018 NCAA champ Peng-Peng Lee, Tokyo qualifier from Jamaica, Danusia Francis, and Jordan Chiles, an eight-time US national team member. More gymnasts will be announced in the coming months.
Biles, who performed this vault at the national championships in Indianapolis recently:
She plans on performing the same vault in Tokyo. Wow!
