We had a lot of rain here, but flooding was a far greater concern east of us. An RV floating down the Kentucky River is a testimony to the seriousness of the situation.
After a couple of rounds of severe weather rolled through the Tri-State Friday night and early Saturday, residents still need to be weather aware going into Saturday evening/night and for all day Sunday.
Due to ongoing flooding concerns in Daviess County, the Fiscal Court has authorized the issuance of sandbags to residents to assist them with flooding mitigation efforts for their properties.
The National Weather Service has issued flood warnings for Owensboro and Evansville. We have already had about 2 inches of rainfall and are expected 1-3 more inches over the next 24 hours.
Due to heavy rain overnight we have reports of flash flooding along highways in several counties that has severely hampered travel.
Motorists are urged to slow down and use extreme caution.

As river levels continue to drop, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet engineers believe a number of key transportation connections will reopen over the next 48 hours or so. Some may reopen in time for the Monday morning commute.
