Meet Owensboro's Ice Bath Posse- a group of friends who have joined forces to raise money for Special Olympics Kentucky by taking the Polar Bear Plunge.

The 2015 Polar Bear Plunge is in the books.  And we had a ball in downtown Owensboro, where there many highlights.  Among them . . . Santa Claus.  Yep!  Santa Claus came to town and took the Plunge to benefit Special Olympics Kentucky.  WATCH!

This year's Polar Bear Plunge is going to feature a bunch of changes.  The first change, announced a few months ago, is the big move to downtown Owensboro.  Another huge change will be the Plunge itself.  Instead of jumping into a lake or a swimming pool, this year's plungers are going to climb up a gigantic inflatable slide and barrel down it into a pool of freezing cold water.  It's going to be

After years at The Hines Center in Philpot, Owensboro's Polar Bear Plunge is moving to a new location.  And, there are some other BIG changes in store for the 2015 event.  Wanna know where the Plunge is headed and an exciting new fundraiser being cooked up?

12 degrees.  That's how cold the water was Saturday for the 2014 Polar Bear Plunge.  12 degrees, People!  But, 157 plungers were there to jump in it anyway and help raise money for Special Olympics Kentucky.  I was going to plunge too . . . but had a change of heart when my friend David Bristow, from Southern Star, offered up an additional $100 to charity if he could push me in.  Naturally, I said

It's that time again.  And, yes!  Here at WBKR, we are going to be Freezin' for a Reason at the 2014 Polar Bear Plunge.  It's Saturday, February 8th at The Hines Center in Philpot and we'll be among the hundreds of folks who suck it up, throw caution to the shrinkage-inducing wind and jump into the icy cold waters of The Hines Center lake.  Here are some video highlights from last year's Plunge!
