It's no secret the state of Kentucky has one if not the highest lung cancer rates in the country. Thus, cigarette taxes have gone up 50 cents a pack, a health initiative, Quit Now Kentucky, has been ongoing, but now if state senator gets his way, employees who smoke would face discrimination.
Effective today, smoking is banned in state-owned properties in the state of Kentucky. The Commonwealth has the highest rate of adult smokers in the nation and the sixth highest youth smoking rate. And, now, lawmakers have done something about it.
Daviess County Judge-Executive Al Mattingly has signed Executive Order No. 03-2012, it states:
