Do you have tires you need to be gone?  Daviess County Fiscal Court in partnership with the Kentucky Division of Waste Management will be sponsoring a free tire disposal event.

JUST LYING AROUND

Have you changed the tires on one of your vehicles at home and then had no clue what to do with them?  Tires can be a nuisance if you keep them around.  Angel here and I had a set of tires a few years ago that I was going to use as spare tires for my truck and then got new ones and didn't have anywhere to dispose of them.  They stayed at the back of my garage for way too long and collected dirt and water which caused extra problems including bugs.

IT'S ILLEGAL

Did you know it's illegal to throw tires in the trash?  Tires aren't biodegradable and they take up way too much space in landfills.  Tires can also be dangerous.  Think about all that rubber-catching fire.  It's a problem that no one wants on their hands.

HERE'S HOW TO DISPOSE OF YOUR OLD TIRES

Tires will be accepted on, on-or-off rim, including farm implements, bicycles, motorcycles, go-carts, ATVs, tractors, trucks, and passenger vehicles.  They do ask that you remove all water from tires prior to dropping them off. They will not accept Off-Road Construction Tires (OTR), tracks, sheet rubber, solid, calcium, or otherwise filled, or any tire with a bead greater than 1 ¾ in.

EVENT INFO

Any Kentucky resident can drop tires at the Daviess County Lions Club Fairgrounds located at 6191 Hwy 54 in Philpot on the following days:

Thursday, July 15th from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Friday, July 16th from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Saturday, July 17th from 7 a.m. to Noon

Items You Shouldn't Leave in Your Car

Right up front, I'm not including children and pets on this list; it's understood that they should never be left in a vehicle, ESPECIALLY in hot weather. And in fact, there's a device that comes with a phone app that notifies you of movement in your vehicle when you're not in it. Sounds pretty valuable to me. But back to the business at hand...what you shouldn't be leaving in your car. Some are super obvious, but I had to include them since it would just be silly if I didn't. On we go...

See Inside a 1928 Passenger Airplane AND See Owensboro from Way Up in the Sky

I was fortunate enough to be a passenger aboard a 1928 Ford Tri-Motor 5-AT-B Transcontinental Air Transport. We flew all the way around Owensboro.  It was amazing to get a bird's-eye view of the city from inside such a beautiful old aircraft.
