U.S. Manufacturing Industry Actually Desperate to Hire

Times are tough. Nothing new there. Folks are scrambling to find jobs. Nothing new there. The manufacturing industry is in desperate need of workers. Whoa!! Would you care to run that by me again?

Recent headlines regarding manufacturing have utilized unpleasant terms and phraseology like "layoffs" and "jobs going overseas." But now homefront talent is needed...and unusually scarce. April saw a modest climb in industry hires, but employers seem to be struggling to find enough skilled workers fill needs. A number of factors is at play, and if you dig deep, you can see where the difficulty in finding solutions for these problems might lie. On the other hand, some of this information sounds vaguely like a good problem. In this economy, even the faintest light at the end of the tunnel is still light.
