Pharmacy giant Walgreen's has plans to close nearly 600 Rite Aid drugstores in a multi-billion dollar deal to buy all 2,000 locations.

The company basically plans to close those stores within a mile of another store in the Walgreen's network. Rite Aid has four locations in Owensboro and there are seven more located in Western Kentucky.

And Walgreen's is not saying which locations are closing but the closures will begin next spring and they will be completed over 18 months.
