Fun Ways to Watch the 2022 Owensboro Daviess County Christmas Parade
Santa Claus is coming to town and he'll be here Saturday evening as the Owensboro-Daviess County Christmas Parade returns. The parade is set for 4:30pm, Saturday, November 19th and will run along 2nd Street downtown.
The theme of this year's parade is "Christmas in the Movies" and all participating floats are asked to decorate around that theme.
Each year, the Owensboro-Daviess County Christmas Parade is the first Christmas parade in the Commonwealth. That distinction has earned our parade the billing- "Where Kentucky Starts Christmas." Our parade is also one of the biggest parades in the entire state.
While it's certainly beginning to LOOK a lot like Christmas, it's also going to FEEL like Christmas on Saturday evening. We're not expected to climb out of the 40s on Saturday and we could see lows in the teens.
There's no doubt that many local families will bundle up and brave the cold to experience the magic of the parade in person. However, in the event you want to watch the parade from the warmth of your home, you can do that too.
The Owensboro-Daviess County Christmas Parade Association is teaming up with Owensboro Times to bring you all the action from the parade via streaming. You'll be able to catch all the action on a live YouTube feed, on the Owensboro Times Facebook page and/or on the Owensboro Times Facebook page. Parade committee member Jane Head and I, as we have for years, will be doing the play-by-play commentary. The Christmas parade is one of my favorite events to be a part of annually and we're excited to be able to bring the fun to your home.
Dave Spencer, who normally joins us in the announcers' booth, will be IN the parade this year. He'll be driving a WBKR vehicle! If you brave the weather to watch the parade, make sure you wave at him as he passes by.
