The pandemic has certainly taken a toll on the school system, students, staff, and all of us parents.  Local School Districts are implementing new measures to avoid unnecessary absences.

Yesterday, OPS sent out a district-wide message to all parents letting them know that they would be implementing Test to Stay;

By now, you may have heard that our district will be instituting a "Test to Stay" option for students and staff beginning Monday, October 11, 2021. If you aren't familiar with that, you can find a full story on our website  HERE.

This program is completely free and optional, however, it is extremely recommended so that your child is able to remain in school if they are considered a "close contact" of a positive case.

The most important thing you need to do in order to have your child participate in this program should they need to, is to go ahead and sign up at  ethosbacktoschool.com and provide consent for your child to participate. They will not be able to participate unless you have registered and provided consent for them to do so.

If you do this now, there won't be any delay should your child need to participate in this program. We highly encourage you to go ahead and get signed up. Our hope is that you never have to use it, but it's better to be signed up in advance so there is no delay.

If you have any questions about this program, please check out the information on our website or contact Central Office at 270-686-1000.

In short, the schools are working to make sure that each child and/or their teacher does not have to go on mandatory quarantine because of close contact.

For example, we had friends whose child tested positive and because their son was also around him had to stay home from school 10 days longer than when his brother was allowed to return even with a negative test.  This will help to prevent the wait and worry and also keep our kids in school.

The school districts truly are working diligently to combat the issue as best they can.  We commend them for all their hard work and dedication to the health and safety of the students and staff.
