Oh, the memories. It was ten years ago right now that I was driving back to my hotel room in Dubuque, Iowa after visiting tiny Dyersville, Iowa.

It's where the classic baseball film Field of Dreams--my second favorite movie of all time--was filmed in 1988.

The movie--starring Kevin Costner, Amy Madigan, James Earl Jones, and Burt Lancaster--was released in 1989, so this is its 30th anniversary.

So I wonder why the Chicago White Sox and the New York Yankees are waiting until NEXT year to do what, I'm sure, every major league baseball team has wanted to do...PLAY A GAME ON THE FIELD OF DREAMS!

I loved my visit. Didn't want to leave. In fact, I just sat there quietly, for hours, just looking around and soaking it all in.

Take a look at the teaser and tell me, baseball fans, that you don't want to see this game.

Okay, I'll put it this way. Take a look at the teaser and tell me, White Sox and Yankees fans, that you don't want to see this game.

The tickets, I'm guessing, will be pricey since there will only be 8,000 seats available.

Right now, as a tourist attraction, the diamond at the film set is surrounded only by bleachers.

So they're building a makeshift stadium to accommodate as many as possible. And it looks like 8,000 is all they'll be able to get in there.

I absolutely want to go, but I doubt I'll be able to.

Still, I applaud the idea.

A major league baseball game at the Field of Dreams set is LONG overdue.
