Why Carrie Was Mean to Chad

Now, we know why Carrie Underwood was mean to Chad when we met her in 2008. We were backstage at the Kenny Chesney show. Carrie was just starting out and meeting radio folks, like us. Well, she seemed really distant, non-responsive and somewhat rude. I am used to treat people treating me like that, but Chad wasn't. But, now we know why. Carrie told Marie Claire magazine she has panic attacks when people move into her space or touch her. "People were touching me, screaming – it made me really nervous. In public, I just get nervous. It’s a physical reaction, feeling like the walls are closing in. The fans are great. It’s not their fault. I don’t ever want to come across as ungrateful. But on my end, it is hard for me to process. Because I am still just me."

So, that is why. I mean look at the terror in her eyes standing between us.
