The National Weather Service has placed parts of the WBKR listening area under a Winter Weather Advisory.  And we could see periods of freezing rain that could make travel difficult overnight and into Monday morning.

According to NWS . . . The Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 6pm this evening until 6am Monday morning.

Freezing rain expected and ice will result in difficult travel conditions. Total ice accumulations of less than one tenth of an inch are expected. Portions of southern Illinois, southwest Indiana and western Kentucky are included in the advisory area.

Even though air temperatures are expected to rise to just above freezing in many locations, very cold ground temperatures are expected to lag the slightly warmer air temperatures. This will result in light rain freezing on contact until the ground has more of a chance to thaw.

A Winter Weather Advisory means that periods of freezing rain will cause travel difficulties. Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving. The latest road conditions for the state you are calling from can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.
