It's almost time for Game 6 of the World Series and the Chicago Cubs will have to win in Cleveland to force a deciding Game 7. I recently found out that one of the biggest Cub fans to ever live not only wrote the David Allen Coe standard "You Never Even Called Me By My Name", but Steve Goodman is also the man behind the infamous Cubs anthem "Go Cubs Go!".

Sing along!

I know I'll always be loyal to the Cardinals, but "Go Cubs Go!" always makes my heart happy. Four days before Goodman passed away from leukemia in 1984, the Cubs clinched the Eastern Division title, which was their first post-season appearance since 1945. He wrote this song as one last tribute to the team he loved.

In 1988, some of Goodman's ashes were spread at Wrigley Field. I'm sure he's somewhere now proudly flying the W.
