Dave’s Top 10 of ’12: #6 – El Cerrito Place by Kenny Chesney [VIDEO]
I think I get it. But at the same time, I’m not sure that what I think I get is actually it.
Wait, I’m confused.
How can I convince you I love this song if I can’t convince myself I even know what it’s about?
Okay, let’s do this. “El Cerrito Place” by Kenny Chesney is a really cool song written by Keith Gattis that I first heard when Charlie Robison recorded it several years ago.
I’m going with my take that it’s about a guy looking for someone who made a huge impact on his life despite the fact that they were together for only a brief time. The lyrics and Kenny’s performance expertly evoke the real, lived-in, sun-baked Los Angeles.
It’s a vivid image set to music. And that always works for me.
(Now, why couldn’t they make a real video?)
