"Making the Dreams You Wish Come True" isn't just a Disney tagline, it's become a reality for 19-year-old Western Kentucky University freshman Julia Jones. It's a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity at the most magical place on earth.

My friend Kalyn is over the moon excited! Her Disney-loving daughter is about to embark on the time of her young life. Julia Jones graduated from Daviess County High School in 2023 with an interest in chemistry.  This brought her to Western Kentucky University. Although, she loved chemistry she was unsure if it was the right direction. This decision brought her to a brand new exciting adventure!

"Julia has grown up a Disney kid. She watched all of the movies, dressed up as princesses for Halloween, and visited Disney World multiple times.", Kalyn shared about Julia's Disney obsession

JULIA JONES ACCEPTED INTO DISNEY COLLEGE PROGRAM

She applied to the Disney College Program (DCP) in early March. Knowing the acceptance rate is around 20% of all applicants, she remained hopeful. It didn't take long for the phone to ring! After her phone interview, she wasn't sure if she did well enough to be accepted. Just 3 days later, the phone rang again. She made it in and will report for duty on August 12th, 2024. I don't know if Julia or her Mom is more excited about this amazing opportunity!

"Julia is anxious about making new friends and getting into a new routine but is excited to see “the other side” of Disney and how they make the magic daily.", Kalyn shared

WHAT COMES NEXT FOR JULIA?

What specific role Julia will play during her stay will be given before she travels to Orlando. She'll dress in costume and perform duties anywhere in the park. There are many roles she could be assigned; including merchandise, quick service (fast food), photo pass (photographer), attractions (rides), or many other options.

Julia will be part of the program at the perfect time of the year. She'll experience Halloween at the Magic Kingdom. She'll be there for Christmas when the park is the most magical.

Her program will end on January 2nd, 2025, and she'll return to WKU for the spring semester.

DISNEY COLLEGE PROGRAM

According to Wikipedia, eligible applicants are students aged 18 and older before the expected arrival date and actively enrolled in an accredited semester program university or college as a full-time or part-time student. The program lasts between five and seven months on average.

Good luck Julia! Soak it all in and have a magical time.
