This Incredible Kentucky Kid Was Born to Play Country Music

Myles Gee is a twelve-year-old student at Browning Springs Middle School and before he could walk, he was playing the guitar. "Every toy he picked up, he pretended it was a guitar," his dad Scott said, "Myles grew up singing in church and his mama and sister can sing too, he didn't get it from me."

Over the years, his love for music has grown stronger, and even though he plays like someone twice his age, he's never taken a lesson. "I'd guess around six or seven he learned some chords on YouTube, but he mostly plays by ear." Myles says he just picks up the guitar and his hands start playing. That kind of talent is not something you learn. It's a gift you are born with.

I came across Myles on my TikTok feed and immediately noticed his skills and real-deal country and blues style. My immediate thought was, "Oh, this kid listens to the "good stuff." Meaning oldies, of course. While he mainly spins legends like Waylon Jennings and Elvis, he's also a huge fan of Bluegrass superstar, Billy Strings. You can tell they inspire his finger-pickin' and soulful voice.

He's been sharing his music on social media for a few years now which has also caught the eyes of some pretty big names. "Yeah, him and Kenny Chesney are pretty good buds. They message back and forth from time to time." Last year when Chesney performed in Evansville, he invited Myles to come join the fun. Look! He fits right in with all of these awesome folks.

Emily Maines from The Chicks messaged Myles on Instagram when they were on tour last year to invite him to come to a concert, so they met up in Knoxville.

B.B. King's family even reached out to Myles to send him gifts from the King of Blues' estate. It's amazing to see these legends in music recognizing his talents. Here's his hilarious impression.

Myles is invited to play all over, but it's a little hard to travel all the time when you gotta go to school! I asked if Myles was as famous in Madisonville as he is on Tiktok and Scott told me that he's actually recognized more in the places he plays in and around Nashville. When he was 10 years old, he performed for the first time at a benefit show in Mt. Juliet, TN. He's often joined onstage by his talented friend, Kaden Dame.

At home, Scott said they are "average Joes" and that Myles is just as humble and kind as can be. From the looks of all of the people in the crowd filming his performance here, it's only a matter of time before the whole country music world learns about this 6th-grade superstar.

Myles is undeniably special. Having this kind of attention could easily go to a person's head, but his daddy says that is not and has never been why he performs.
