The forecast for Friday here in western Kentucky is a hot one! The sun's going to be blazing and we're going to be approaching the 100 degree mark. If you're looking for a thirst-quenching escape from the heat, we're going to have one for you here at the WBKR studios.

During the month of July, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital issued a social media challenge on Facebook. The challenge? To create a lemonade stand complete with an old fashioned lemonade stand sign.

One local Owensboro girl is answering that call. Raelyn Duncan, who has spent the last couple of years raising money through her K9 Cookies for Cancer efforts, has decided that she's going to be serving up some of her grandma's lemonade. And she's building her stand here at WBKR.

Plus, in addition to serving up lemonade, she's also going to be serving some delicious lemon bars.

Raelyn knows a thing or two about making money for St. Jude and doing it with baked goods- not only for her canine friends, but for her human friends too. Earlier this year, she announced that she spent the majority of 2022 raising a whopping $6100 for the patients and families at St. Jude!

Since that big announcement, the Meadowlands Elementary School 5th grader has been fundraising toward her 2024 goal. Those efforts will continue Friday, July 28th from 10am to 1pm here at 3301 Frederica Street.

You're invited to come by for a refreshing glass of lemonade and/or a lemon bar (or two). As with the majority of Raelyn's St. Jude events, there's no set price for her goods. She'll be happy to hook you up for a donation to cause.
