Trayce Harmon is a local 11-year-old who is battling Mitochondrial Disease, a rare chronic and progressive disease that attacks vision, hearing, motor skills and, ultimately, leads to organ failure.  On Saturday, friends and family are banding together to hold a fundraiser car wash for him here in Owensboro.  Here are the details and how you can help!

The Strength for Trayce car wash fundraiser is set for 10am to 3pm Saturday, September 26th at Advance Auto Parts, 2710 West Parrish Avenue here in Owensboro.  The car wash will be free, but donations will be accepted and all proceeds will help pay for Trayce's upcoming trip to Ohio, where he will meet with a treatment specialist.  In addition to the car wash, Strength for Trayce supporters will be having a bake sale, with all proceeds benefiting Trayce.

This week happens to be Mitochondrial Disease Awareness Week.  It runs through Saturday and the basic goal is to create awareness about this rare and hard-to-diagnose disease.

In addition to Saturday's car wash, friends and family have set up an account at South Central Bank.  Donations can be made there by simply referencing the account of Calvert Harmon.  And the family is also having a t-shirt sale . . .
