Shannon Magrane Strikes Out on American Idol

American Idol: Would You Like to Take the Grand Tour? by Steve Thompson
Just when you thought it was safe to watch American Idol again... The dreaded Judge's Save can be invoked any night before the final five. What does this mean to America? Because of the timely exit of Jermaine, the producers just happen to now have a spare week with which to manipulate the audience. When someone totally botches a theme (and they will) and it's one person the judges want to win-- the Save returns and perhaps even the Nielsen viewers.

IDOL Hopeful Slays Carrie Underwood Song [Video]

There's been a lot of talk this season about American Idol and how the show isn't the ratings juggernaut it used to be.  However, as a fan who has truly never missed an episode, I feel I must tell you that this year's Top 13 is the strongest in years.  And, last Thursday's "Wild Card" episode was absolutely riveting television.  The judges chose six contestants to "sing for their lives" and each one laid it all on the line.  My absolute favorite was Jeremy Rosado, who walked to the microphone and blasted his way through Carrie Underwood's "I Know You Won't."  WATCH THIS!

If you ask the majority of my Facebook friends (and me, for that matter), this year's crop of guys on American Idol totally disappointed last night in their first live performances.  There has been a ton of talk about how talented this year's Top 24 (or, check that, Top 26) are, but you would have never known that by tuning in last night.  So, what did our Idol expert Steve Thompson think?  How did he rank the performers?  Keep reading and Steve will share his thoughts about who's singing to stay and who deserves to go!

“American Idol” Wraps Up Hollywood Week [Video]

Hollywood week is over on American Idol.  And, I am sure the contestants, who spent the week throwing up, passing out and collapsing on the stage, are probably THRILLED.  But did ANYONE shine during Idol's most infamous boot camp?  Was anyone able to just drink a gallon of Dayquil and go on about their business? As WBKR's Idol expert, Steve Thompson, explains, a gal named Jen Hirsch delivered two of the most memorable performances of the week, but she wasn't the only one able to pull a rabbit out the hat.

Strange Flu Makes Idol’s Hollywood Week Hard to Stomach

Call me an addict if you will . . . but I have seen EVERY single episode of EVERY single season of American Idol.  But, I have never seen anything like last night's episode about Hollywood Week.  Instead of finding America's next great singing superstar, Idol needed to find a doctor!  Stat!  A horrible stomach bug broke out and contestants were tossing cookies everywhere.  In fact, I think this is the only Idol episode I've ever seen when there were NO performances.  As our Idol expert, Steve Thompson, explains, this was more like a scene from Contagion, Outbreak, or 28 Days Later!
