The 36th annual WBKR-WOMI Christmas Wish program has ended. Thank you for contributing so much, adopting letters, volunteering long hours of work or just by staying interested. This year we received 1264 letters of request. And, only 100 were not granted. Usually there are many more. Those not granted are due to being out of our service area such as California; are from a family already receiving assistance or we were not able to validate the recipient.

Mrs. Davis' 5th grade class at East View Elementary decided to do things a little differently this year. Instead of giving presents to each other, they wanted to donate them to the children at Christmas Wish. What a great group of 10 and 11 year olds! Office Manager Roxianne's daughter Cydney is in the class, so we decided to take the WBKR truck, the BKR bear and us to the school and have them present their presents!

These kids are amazing and they brought in over 35 toys! They even wrapped the gifts themselves, check it out!

I can't believe I'm saying this so early in the month, but we are right at 1,000 letters! Wow! There is SO much need right now in the Tri-State and we are relying on YOU to help us make sure that every child in our area has something under the tree Christmas morning. You always come thru for us every year and I have no doubts that you will help us out now!

Christmas Wish Tree on Display at Gaylord's Hall of Trees

Gaylord Opryland Resort continues its tradition that is the Hall of Trees. Each year, the hotel invites non-profit agencies to decorate Christmas trees that are put up for auction during the hotel's "A Country Christmas" celebration. The charities actually get to keep the money their trees generate. So, for the second year in a row, we have a Christmas Wish tree on display in Nashville. Check this out!

Every year I broadcast live from our Christmas Wish office and this year is no different. The office opened on Monday in Towne Square Mall, but I won't be over there until this coming Monday.

Yesterday, Chad called and asked me to go over to the office when I got off the air and help investigate letters. Of course I said "Sure!", but was thinking "Ugh, I'd rather not." Yep, you know what's coming next.... It doesn't take too many phone calls to realize just how lucky and blessed we all are.

I've been broadcasting for the past two weeks from the WBKR/WOMI Telecom Pioneers Christmas Wish office. It's such a great place to do my show from, because I really get to see the inner-workings of the CW office. Well.... we need YOUR help!! By Monday, we'll have over 900 letters to fill! This is awesome! Our buddy Mike Spurgeon, with Henderson Chevrolet Buick GMC, came to us earlier this year and told us the dealership really wanted to be a big part of Christmas Wish this year. Not only has Henderson Chevy set up a Christmas Wish tree in their showroom (complete with 50 families up for adoption), they have also given us some amazing electronics for a "blind" auction inside the Christmas Wish office. At the end of Day Two, we had received just under 400 letters and they continue to pour into the office. We have lots of calls about how you can submit a letter to Christmas Wish, how to make donations, how to volunteer time, what kinds of supplies we need in the office and more. Yesterday at the Christmas Wish office, Jaclyn reached into her bag and noticed that someone had opened her Christmas Tree snack cake, taken a bite, then wrapped it back up and put it back in her bag. Naturally, she accused me! Now, on any given day, there are DOZENS of volunteers our Christmas Wish office. Any single one of them could have reached into Jaclyn's mongrammed 31 Bag and taken out that blasted icing-filled tree of delight. But did she think about the other possibilities??? NO!!!!!!
