It's apparent Taylor Swift is going in a bold new direction with her contributions to the upcoming The Hunger Games: Songs from District 12 and Beyond soundtrack. If you heard her collaboration with The Civil Wars, "Safe and Sound" and though, eh, maybe a little too weird, then I think "Eyes Open" will improve your attitude.

Swift performed the song acoustically live for the first time in New Zealand on Saturday. Speaking of the soundtrack, produced by Grammy winnter T. Bone Burnett, other artists contributing include: The Civil Wars, Miranda Lambert feat. Pistol Annies, Arcade Fire, and a group that paid ROMP a visit last year and will again this year, Carolina Chocolate Drops. The Punch Brothers feat. Nickel Creek's Chris Thile, who are also scheduled for this year's festival, are also on the soundtrack.

The soundtrack will be out Tuesday, The Hunger Games will hit theaters this Friday, 3/23/12.
