I am a brand new fan of Destination America's BBQ Pitmasters. I've just started watching it within the last couple of weeks. It's a competition program in which judges evaluate barbecue from all over the country.

That's why I take notes. If I find myself in Kansas City, Memphis, North Carolina, or wherever, I want to make sure I know where to go. An episode I saw this weekend featured a team from Peg Leg Porker in Nashville...just a hop, skip, and a jump from here.

But, BBQ Pitmasters is zeroing in even closer with an episode featuring John Forman from Old Hickory Barbecue and Roy Henry, owner of Boogalou BBQ! To celebrate, a viewing party is scheduled for this Sunday, January 20th, hosted by the Owensboro Daviess County Convention & Visitors Bureau and Gambrinus Libation Emporium.

A ten dollar ticket will get you BBQ and two sides cooked by Roy Henry, himself. The meal, at 6pm, will be followed by guest speaker Dr. Wes Berry from Western Kentucky University, author of The Kentucky Barbecue Book, and then an Owensboro barbecue documentary at 7. The BBQ Pitmasters episode will air at 8PM. T-shirts and Boogalou BBQ Sauce will be given away. Doors will open at 5PM.

Only 100 tickets are available and can be purchased at Gambrinus, The Creme Coffeehouse, and the Owensboro Daviess County Convention & Visitors Bureau. For more information, contact the Bureau at 270-926-1100.
