Angel Celebrates National Love Your Pet Day (VIDEO)
Angel here! I can't think of a time in my life when I did not have a pet. I grew up on a farm with animals everywhere. Loving my fur babies is just in my blood and today I celebrate them!
Both my parents worked with animals. My momma was a vet tech and a dog groomer for most of my life. My daddy trained and put shoes on horses since he was a young boy.
I was a pretty blessed little girl! I had my own pony, Beauty, at age 5 and by the time I was 8, I had a full grown quarter horse named Big Time (my parents called him the babysitter) because no one could come near me when I was riding him.
Pets just make the world a better place. I have had so many special pets throughout my life. They are great therapists. They listen and just love you no matter how long you leave them during the day or even if you forget to take them out.
My baby I had the longest was Powder. She was half german shepherd and half yellow lab. She was perfect. I got her when I was 17 and laid her to rest when I was 33.
She was the most gentle and loving 120 lb baby you could ever meet. She went to soccer practice with me, was there when my boys were born, and even got me through my momma passing away and my divorce. It broke my heart the day she left our family.
Ms. Jingles is the other fur baby I have had the longest. I got her in 2007. She came to me from a neighbor. A family member couldn't take care of her anymore and I loved cats. I thought she needed me but I needed her way more than I could have ever known. She has braved two moves with me, kept me company when I was alone, seriously loved me unconditionally. She is now almost 14 years. For years she was an outside kitty now she enjoys coming in and curling up in our laps. She even runs the neighborhood cat posey LOL! She is kind of like the Godfather of cats.
Our newest fur family members are Layla Rose and Cheddar Miles. Ms. Layla is a Goldendoodle and recently became a mommy for the first time to 7 beautiful puppies. She is the heartbeat of our family. She greets us every single time we walk through the door and is faithfully waiting in our picture window for us to pull in the driveway when we come home for the day. She loves her kids and has a special relationship with each one of them.
And Mr. Cheddar is a character. We got him about 6 months ago from the Daviess County Animal Shelter. He was a rescue and I fell in love with him when I went to visit. He decided he belonged with our family and was determined to go home with me. He got his wish and has been living his best life since. He definitely makes our house even more lively with his antics!
I am so thankful God made animals. What a boring world we would live in if they weren't around. My babies bless me daily!
