You know Santa Claus has a Nice List and a Naughty List. Of course, because our parents routinely threaten us with the latter, we spend our childhoods keeping our fingers and candy canes crossed that we make that Nice List. Remember, "he sees you when you're sleeping. He knows when you're awake. He knows if you've been bad or good!"

Well, Hayley Payne, a Kentucky singer-songwriter now living in Nashville, just released her first Christmas song. It's a tribute to all those people who know exactly which list they're ending up on at Christmas. And, no! It isn't the previously exalted 'nice' one.

'SORRY, SANTA'- A BRAND NEW CHRISTMAS SONG

Hayley's new song is country-infused apology to Jolly Old St. Nick. The song's called "Sorry, Santa!" and it will officially be released on Friday, November 29th.

Hayley, who's originally from Owensboro, teamed up with her friends and co-writers Sam Blasko and Cassidy Best a year ago.  The trio had a writing session and Hayley, being a good little elf, showed up to it with a fun concept. She says, "I brought the idea of 'Don't Tell Santa' into the write and it turned into this fun apology to Santa Claus."

The lyrics in the chorus are hilarious (and ones many of us can relate to).  Hayley sings, "I am a regular under mistletoe and drink more egg nog that I should. Sorry, Santa! Maybe next year I'll be good."

Here's a fun sample of the song!

Hayley says this is the first Christmas song she's ever written and 'we had a lot of fun writing it.' The audience for it is pretty self-explanatory. Obviously, Hayley hopes "Sorry, Santa!" becomes a new seasonal favorite for anyone who loves Christmas music. However, it's most intended for all those women and men who can't quite seem to get their names Liquid Papered off the Naughty List.

Hayley says, "This one goes out to the people who might not have made the Nice List this year. But, there's always next year!"
