The WBKR St. Jude Radiothon is coming up on Thursday, February 3rd and Friday, February 4th, 2022  For the last few years, one of our annual kick off events has been the Cuties for a Cure pageant.  However, for the second year in a row, due to ongoing issues with COVID-19, the pageant will again be virtual.

Here's how it works!

This virtual pageant will take place online through Tuesday, February 1st.  To enter, please inbox Cuties for a Cure a photo of your child along with name and age.  Photos will be posted and donations can be made to St. Jude in each contestant's honor via votes.  Those votes are $1 a piece and all proceeds will benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.

As with the live, in-person pageants, there will be multiple crowns and prizes up for grabs.

The "ultimate" prize in the pageant is the Batting for Brock Supreme, which is inspired by young Brock Pederson, who lost his battle with cancer a couple of years ago after a brave and inspiring battle.

There will also be winners crowned in each age division.  Those are as follows:

0-23 months

2-3 years,

4-5 years

6-7 years

8-10 years

11 & up

Each age division winner will receive a crown, sash and gift that will be mailed to them following the close of the virtual competition.  The Batting for Brock Supreme will be awarded to the contestant with the greatest amount of money raised in votes and donations.  The Mini Supreme title (in honor of Emma Ford, a young Greenville  resident who lost her battle with cancer at the age of four) will be awarded to the contestant who raises the second highest amount of donations.

As pageant coordinator Michelle Vincent explains, "The great thing about a virtual event is that it is open to ANY child no matter where you live.  You can even have family and friends donate from around the country.  Just make they sure they indicate the child's name and age with their donation."

Or, as Michelle adds, you can also make a donation in memory of Brock Pederson, who, just before his death, raised $1300 from his hospital bed in Texas.  And, it's important to note that Emma Ford, who I mentioned above, is the initial inspiration behind the creation of Team Emma and Cuties for a Cure and donations can be made on her half as well.

Donations and votes may be sent through PayPal or you can Venmo 270-543-4476.  If you have questions about the pageant, donations, how to enter contestants, etc., simply email Cuties4acurepageant@yahoo.com. Or you can call or text Michelle Vincent at 270-543-4476 or Kelly Peay 270-535-6757.

The donation deadline is Tuesday, February 1st if paying by PayPal or Venmo.  If you are making cash donations, that money must be turned in by Wednesday, February 2nd.  All winners and the Cuties for a Cure fundraising total will be announced during the WBKR St. Jude Radiothon on Friday, February 4th.
