I suppose the moment that the holiday season begins might differ from one person to the next.

For example, when we were kids, my sister and I freaked out when the Sears and JCPenney Christmas catalogs arrived in late August. For us, THAT was the beginning of the holiday season. Halloween and Thanksgiving would just be fringe benefits along the way.

For others, it's somewhere in October, a time when more people than you might realize put up their Christmas decorations. Two good friends of mine have already done it.

Maybe it's the Christmas parade, although this year it won't be happening.

But perhaps it's an annual event that just started within the last decade and will make its return in November.

The Owensboro Convention Center will host the seventh annual Kraftucky Arts & Crafts Expo Friday, November 13th through Sunday, November 15th.

It's only taken seven years for this event to become one that so many folks in the tri-state circle on their calendars as, maybe, a kickoff of the holiday season.

And why not?

Kraftucky fills the Owensboro Convention Center with the sights and sounds of Thanksgiving and Christmas and an enormous array of unique creations from local and regional crafters. Jewelry, holiday decor, quilts, furniture...you name it and you'll likely find it that weekend at the Convention Center.

Plus, there will be something new this year--craft Boba teas or "bubble teas," in regular and "spiked" versions, for those 21 and over. Have you ever had one? It sounds weird but they're really good.

And they're a perfect fall beverage to accompany the perfect fall event.

Crowd sizes inside the Convention Center will be monitored in order to adhere to event capacity regulations.

Kraftucky hours will be Friday, November 13th from 2pm to 7pm, Saturday, November 14th from 9am to 6pm, and Sunday, November 15th from 11am to 4pm.
