The Gilles Family, who own Hill View Farms Meats in Owensboro, Kentucky, have a beloved dessert recipe that has been passed down through three different generations. It's a Four Layer Cake that is sweet, creamy, and delicious. It's also pretty easy to make.

HOW TO MAKE HOMEMADE WHIPPED TOPPING

First, you are more than welcome to use Cool Whip or some other brand of store-bought whipped topping. However, Jim Gilles (from Hill View Farms Meats) says making it homemade is easy and, well, better. His whipped topping recipe will yield 2 cups of finished product. You'll need to triple the recipe for the Four Layer Cake.

1. Combine 1 cup heavy whipping cream, 2 tablespoons of powdered sugar, ½ teaspoon vanilla.

2. Using an electric mixer on medium high mix above combination until medium peaks form, 2-4 minutes. Will have the consistency of store bought packaged whipped topping when finished.

HOW TO MAKE FOUR LAYER CAKE

1. Prepare sugar cookie mix per package instructions.

2. Spread mix in the bottom of an ungreased 9x13 dish and cook according to package directions.

3. Mix together cream cheese, powdered sugar, 1 tsp of vanilla and 2 cups of whipped topping.

4. Spread layer on top of cooked and cooled sugar cookie.

5. Combine 2 small boxes of pudding mix and 3 cups of milk.

6. Using a mixer on slow speed, mix combination until pudding forms 2-4 minutes.

7. Spread this layer on top of the cream cheese layer.

8. Spread 2-4 cups of whipped topping on top of the pudding layer.

9. Sprinkle with chopped pecans or grated chocolate

10. Refrigerate. Serve cold!
