FIRST LOOK: A Ride on Holiday World’s New Good Gravy! Family Coaster
Holiday World opens for the season next weekend, but today the park gave local media and roller coaster enthusiasts the chance to get a special sneak preview of their brand new attraction. The park is home to a new Thanksgiving-themed family roller coaster called Good Gravy!
Good Gravy! is a boomerang coaster that tops out at 37 miles-per-hour and "whisks" riders through a whimsical fantasy land of gigantic kitchen utensils. There's a rolling pin, a chicken timer, large can of cranberry sauce, an oversized box of stuffing, and more.
Holiday World hosted an auction to give some high bidders the first chance to ride the coaster. Here's some fun footage of one of those first rides.
Noah Markgraf (Boonville, Indiana) was one of those lucky auction winners.
Noah loved the ride. In fact, everyone we talked with did. So, we knew we had to "go get that gravy" too!
After the auction winners rode, Holiday World opened up the ride to local media. We climbed into the front seat with an iPhone mounted to Mary-Katherine! This may be one of the funniest coaster reaction videos ever. #GoodGravy
The coaster is a virtual Thanksgiving 'feast' for the eyes. There are huge kitchen utensil and Thanksgiving dinner installations throughout the track.
There's a can of cranberry sauce!
A gigantic bottle of milk.
A chicken timer!
And a really fun photo op with an oversized whisk.
Good Gravy! occupies the portion of Holiday World that used to house Pilgrim's Plunge. The attention to detail is incredible. There's even a portion of the landscaping that is shaped like a gravy boat. *Pro tip! You can get an aerial view of it as you climb the first hill on The Voyage!
Here's a great Facebook Live video walk through of the entire ride.
Holiday World opens for the season Saturday, May 11th!
