Good News: Christmas Wish Fundraiser a Great Success

The benefit yard sale, in memory of Dalton "Nanner" Nantz, was a big success over Labor Day weekend. Many community members came out to support the cause and for that we are so grateful. Good news indeed!

Just a couple of weeks ago I introduced you to Dalton Nantz. He was a military veteran and humanitarian who passed away in January of 2018. "Nanner" was a huge supporter of Christmas Wish, so the family wanted to honor his memory, in a very special way. They hosted a benefit yard sale in his honor to ensure that area children would receive a visit from Santa this season. Many people from all over the community stopped by the event to support Christmas Wish. And, because so many gave, the Nantz family presented a check totaling $2,300. I know that this was a big undertaking, but Nanner would be so very proud of your accomplishment. Many area children will have amazing gifts under the tree come Christmas morning.

This Christmas Wish fundraiser was a beautiful way to honor "Nanner" and Chris Nantz. The entire family worked for weeks to gather and price items. Neighbors, businesses, family and friends dropped off money and contributed items for the sale. Such a great way to step up for all of the families in need this holiday season.

The WBKR Christmas Wish program helped 6,809 children and 1,558 needy families last season. More than 20,000 gifts were put under the tree from Santa. We had close to 1000 food baskets and EVERY meal had a ham or turkey because so many gave. It was a record breaking year that wouldn't have been possible without fundraisers and donations like this. This year we feel the need will be even greater.
