The Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce is urging folks in the area, particularly Chamber members, to beware of a possible phone scam.  Here are the details and what you need to do in the event you receive one of these calls.

According to Candace Brake, the President and CEO of the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce-

This morning, our office was alerted to a fraudulent call that was made to one of our members. The man calling identified himself as a representative of the Owensboro Chamber and stated that he was collecting membership dues for the Chamber.  He asked for credit card information from our member.

THIS IS A FRAUDULENT CALL!
OUR STAFF DOES NOT CALL AND REQUEST CREDIT CARD INFORMATION AND THESE CALLS ARE COMING FROM OUTSIDE THE OWENSBORO CALLING AREA.

The Owensboro Police Department has been contacted and will be investigating.  If you receive a call such as this, please contact The Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce at 270-926-1860 and we will forward the information to the Owensboro Police Department.
