The Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with Independence Bank, is gearing up for Shop Owensboro 2024. It's become a much-anticipated part of Thanksgiving Weekend here in Owensboro-Daviess County. One day after major retailers summon shoppers with their Black Friday and Door Buster Deals, locally-owned retailers and restaurants encourage folks to shop local. In this case, you're encouraged to Shop Owensboro.

HOW TO GET A 'SHOP OWENSBORO' SHOPPING BAG

There's no question that the Shop Owensboro shopping bags are a hot commodity. Last year, they were gone in just 24 minutes. Each year- on Shop Small Saturday- Independence Bank hosts the official kick off for Shop Owensboro. This year, there will be 500 bags up for grabs and those bags are filled with exclusive deals and discounts from each participating business.

Some lucky shoppers will find a hidden surprise in their bags. Each participating business donates a $25 gift certificate and those certificates are placed randomly in select bags. So, some Shop Owensboro patrons will not only get a bag full of discounts, they'll also find a gift card for free merchandise!

The official kick off for Show Owensboro 2024 is at 9am at Independence Bank (Frederica Street in Owensboro) on Saturday, November 30. The shopping bags are first come, first served.
