Shop Small Saturday, this year on November 25th is one of the biggest shopping days of the year. In Owensboro, it has become an even bigger event than Black Friday thanks to the amazing women at the Greater Owensboro Chamber of Commerce. Collaborating with Independence Bank and locally owned businesses for a fun day of giveaways, BINGO, and more!

Here's where you can find all of the details on how to participate including a map of the shops and how to get that coveted green bag full of goodies and surprises.

But what do small business owners do for Shop Small Saturday if they don't have a physical location? As an artist with a little side hustle, I have found myself in this predicament in the past.  Luckily, I also worked at a local small business called Studio Slant and was encouraged to set up a booth there with my art and jewelry. I also found other makers to join us and it was always a total blast.

Lots of local businesses participating in the Chamber event do the same, but Amanda Owen executive director of Puzzle Pieces saw a need among her entrepreneurial friends with nowhere to set up for this local epic day of shopping. "This little pop-up is something I have wanted to do for a long time. I am so excited to have so many women jump on board to make this thing such a BIG SUCCESS already!" Amanda has been a long-time supporter of Shop Small Saturday. I remember one year she made the rounds to all of the businesses doing a selfie challenge. Here is the one she took with us at Slant that year!

LOOK: Milestones in women's history from the year you were born

Women have left marks on everything from entertainment and music to space exploration, athletics, and technology. Each passing year and new milestone makes it clear both how recent this history-making is in relation to the rest of the country, as well as how far we still need to go. The resulting timeline shows that women are constantly making history worthy of best-selling biographies and classroom textbooks; someone just needs to write about them.

Scroll through to find out when women in the U.S. and around the world won rights, the names of women who shattered the glass ceiling, and which country's women banded together to end a civil war.
