If You Want to Participate in Kentucky’s Largest Christmas Parade, Here’s Your Chance
I suppose it's too early to claim that 'It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas", but it will look like it soon enough here in the City of Owensboro. The annual Owensboro-Daviess County Christmas Parade is set for Saturday, November 18th at 4:30pm. The parade is THE largest Christmas parade in the entire Commonwealth of Kentucky and is billed annually as "Where Kentucky starts Christmas."
Of course, one of the biggest reasons for the parade's popularity is the guy who brings it to a close each year- Santa Claus!
Each year, the Owensboro-Daviess County Christmas Parade Association chooses a theme that all participants are asked to decorate around. The theme for 2023 is The Gift of Christmas. And here's some festive and holly jolly news. Entries are now being accepted and you can reserve your spot in the lineup for a special, reduced Early Bird Rate. The Christmas Parade entry fee is $50 for nonprofit groups and $150 for commercial groups.
If you and your group would like to enter, just go to the Parade Applications page to get all the necessary info- including answers to Frequently Asked Questions and to see all the parade rules and regulations. Your parade application AND payment must be received by October 31st, 2023, to receive the Early Bird rates listed above. Applications received November 1st through November 7th, 2023 will pay the standard entry fee.
Plus, don't forget! There are a couple of different ways to enjoy the parade. You can come downtown November 18th and watch the parade in person as moves from east to west on 2nd Street. Or, if you'd rather stay at home and enjoy the parade virtually, you can catch the online broadcast. Last year, Jane Head (with the Owensboro-Daviess County Parade Association) and I hosted the event for Owensboro Times.
Stay tuned for details about our 2023 broadcast!
