Fi Dog Supplements Recalled for Possible Salmonella

Pet owners, it's time for another recall check.

Two Fi supplements for dogs sold nationwide, including through Amazon and Chewy, are being recalled because they could potentially be contaminated with Salmonella.

The recall involves specific lots of the company's Calming and 8-in-1 Formula supplements.

Which Fi Dog Supplements Are Recalled?

According to the FDA, the recall includes:

Fi Calming Supplements for Dogs, 180 g: Lot 26118, UPC 8 50064 80011 1
Fi 8-in01 Formula Supplement for Dogs, 180 g: Lot 26159, UPC 8 50055 11168 4

The company says the potential contamination is connected to ingredients supplied to its manufacturer. Production has been suspended while the manufacturer investigates.

Salmonella Can Affect Pets and People

Salmonella can make dogs sick, with symptoms that can include lethargy, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, vomiting, fever, abdominal pain, and decreased appetite.

There is also a potential risk to humans handling contaminated products or who've come in contact with waste from an infected animal. The risk is greater when hands aren't thoroughly washed after contact.

What To Do if You Have the Recalled Supplements

If you have one of the affected lots, stop giving it to your dog immediately. Fi says consumers should make sure the container is tightly sealed and dispose of it in the trash.

If your dog consumed one of the recalled products and is showing symptoms, the company advises contacting your veterinarian.
