Step Inside Indiana’s Almost Alice House Now for Sale

If you love Alice in Wonderland, the beloved English children’s novel written by Lewis Carroll in 1865, this Indianapolis home may feel like a personal invitation down the rabbit hole.

Hidden in the lively Broad Ripple neighborhood of Indianapolis, this sweet little bungalow was built in 1926 and served as a family home for most of the past century. Last winter, it opened as a themed Airbnb. Now, it is back on the market and waiting for its next chapter.

A Storybook Home in Broad Ripple

Described as “part storybook fantasy and part Instagram dream,” the Almost Alice house was designed by James Rae Designs and took two years to complete.

From the moment you spot its fruity pink exterior, the tone is set. This is no ordinary cottage. From tea cups and keys dangling from the ceiling to tiny snacks and drinks that could induce extreme size changes, the Almost Alice design team thought of everything.

One of the most enchanting details sits in a corner designed for reading and wonder: a perfectly placed, cozy book nook hideaway for readers to snuggle in and get lost in the pages of their favorite book.

According to Indy Maven, the walls were carefully covered with individual pages from 12 unbound copies of Alice in Wonderland. Each page was soaked in coffee, then hand-applied by the James Rae design team. Three full layers of literary charm now wrap the room like wallpaper from a dream.

Whimsy in Every Corner

Nearly every square inch of the home has been thoughtfully dressed in Wonderland style.

Still, the current owner understands that not every buyer wants to live inside a tea party. They are willing to restore the home to a more neutral style for the right buyer.

If you would rather keep the magic alive as an Airbnb, that can be discussed as well.
