Salvation Army Receives $3 Million Grant for Indiana Youth Camp
The Salvation Army Indiana Division has just received an incredible opportunity: a $3 million matching grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. That means if they can raise $3 million through their new Transforming Lives Initiative, the full amount will be unlocked – doubling the impact for youth across the state.
This grant is part of a statewide effort to improve residential youth camps, helping create better spaces where kids can learn, grow, and just be kids.
Hidden Falls Camp Set For Major Upgrade
The funding will go directly toward upgrades at Hidden Falls Camp & Conference Center, a beautiful destination tucked into the hills of southern Indiana. If you’ve never seen it, think scenic streams, waterfalls, and peaceful wooded areas – basically the perfect backdrop for unforgettable summer memories.
New Indoor Facility Means Year-Round Activities
Plans include building a brand-new multi-purpose indoor facility where kids can play basketball, volleyball, pickleball, and more – rain or shine. No more worrying about unpredictable Indiana weather interrupting the fun.
There will also be important upgrades across the camp, including:
- Renovated cabin restrooms
- New doors and windows in buildings
- Improved roads, walking paths, and parking areas
Improvements Focus On Safety And Accessibility
These improvements not only offer comfort, but also safety, accessibility, and making sure camp can serve kids for generations to come.
This exciting news builds on a previous $1 million grant awarded in late 2025. That funding is already helping with critical repairs, including a new roof for the camp’s popular pool building – making sure it stays a safe, fun place for kids to swim, play, and build confidence in the water.
For many kids, especially those who may not otherwise get the chance, this camp it their only real vacation. It’s a place where friendships are formed, confidence grows, and lifelong memories are made.

And with these new upgrades, The Salvation Army is making sure even more Indiana kids get that experience for years to come.
