Just When You Thought It Was Safe
ANOTHER reality music competition show will hit the airwaves this coming Monday night. Bravo's Platinum Hit will take a slightly different approach, the competition is all about songwriting, which by the way, is it just me or was Idol supposed to bring in original songs this season? I know it happened on Glee but I think it can be chalked up as another Nigel Lythgoe lie. Okay, I know The Voice is now the show to watch, and Platinum Hit is on cable, but I think it will be interesting. Hosting the show is sometimes-country-sometimes-pop-sometimes-folk singer/songwriter Jewel and the main mentor is ex-Idol judge Kara DioGuardi (Oh Lord do I miss you!), who hasn't done all that bad as a songwriter herself.

The competition will consist of contestants each week taking on the task of writing for different genres/styles each week. So I would say we just might hear a country song. The prize is pretty big: $100,000 cash, a publishing deal with Sony, BMI Songwriters The Writing Camp, and record deal with RCA/Jive. Wow! Whomever wins better be pretty darn talented. And drama activate!
Platinum Hit premieres Monday night at 10e/9c on Bravo.
