Kentucky State Police are investigating an aircraft wreck the occurred this morning at the Henderson City-Henderson County Airport.  According to officials, two people were killed in the accident.

According to a KSP press release, troopers were notified of the accident around 7:40 a.m.  Reports indicated that the wreck killed two participants inside the aircraft.

KSP Public Affairs Office Corey King says, "Investigators believe that the small airplane crashed about 50 yards off the side of the runway leaving very minimal to no debris field."

Because of the accident and the ongoing investigation, the runway is temporarily shut down as investigators with KSP, FAA and NTSB work to establish more information.

The bodies of both victims have been transported to Madisonville, where autopsies are scheduled for tomorrow.

No one else was injured nor was any property damage reported.
