Kolson Thorpe is a 2nd grader at Southside Elementary School in Nortonville. He's spending his summer trying to win the grand prize in a national Jr. Ranger contest. That grand prize is incredible. The winner is going to snag $20,000, a feature in Ranger Rick, and the chance to learn from wildlife expert and television personality Jeff Corwin.
WHO IS JEFF CORWIN?

The Jr. Ranger contest is open to kids ages 4 to 12. Kolson, who's 7, entered the contest and has been doing incredibly well in the early voting. His mom Laiken says that he loves the outdoors and enjoys fishing and duck hunting with his dad.
In fact, the family owns 100 acres and Kolson spends his free time exploring them. Laiken says winning the contest would be a dream come true for him.
