Brendan Stewart, a junior from Owensboro High School and student at Joy Johnson's Dance Studio, is about to spend his summer in the Big Apple!  The local freestyle dancing phenom earned a scholarship to train at the Broadway Dance Center in New York City.

Next year, Brendan will be finishing up his high school career and, after his exciting summer of training, he'll be ready to explode into the world of dance.  Local dance teacher and former Rockette, Ashley Ayer Martin, has been coaching Brendan since the fifth grade.  She says, "So proud of my student Brendan for his talents in dance, freestyle and choreography!! Being humble and kind goes along way too.  Very proud."

Brendan is headed for NYC July 9th through the 15th and there has been a GoFundMe account set up to help him cover some travel expenses.  If you'd like to donate, CLICK HERE!

And on May 27th, Brendan's friends and family are having a BBQ chicken sale at Carpets Unlimited on Salem Drive.  That event is from 11am to 2pm and chickens are $8 a piece. You can pre-order by contacting Krystal Rowan via Facebook. Plus, there will be raffle prizes up for grabs with all proceeds going to Brendan's travel fund.

Good luck in New York City, Brendan.  And, remember . . . if you can make it there, you can make it anywhere!
