Local Pageant Spreads Awareness and Raises Money for St. Jude

The 'Cuties for a Cure' pageant, celebrating its 6th year, spreads awareness and raises money for cancer patients at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. So, when it comes to this pageant, everyone is a winner. Let's look back at some of the biggest moments of the day.

There was so much excitement in the air on January 28th, 2023 inside Livermore City Hall. The 'Cuties for a Cure' pageant was set to get underway. Contestants were finishing up their hair, nails, and makeup, while some contestants competed without wearing any makeup at all. This pageant focused on the beauty inside, just as much as the outside. It was about raising money for childhood cancer and the patients at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

'CUTIES FOR A CURE' 2023 PAGEANT

Contestants of all ages put their best foot forward to raise money to fight against cancer. I emceed the event and there was electricity in the air all day. There were girls of all ages set to compete and compete they did. The age divisions were 0-11M, 12-23M, 2-3Y, 4-5Y, 6-7Y, 8-10Y, 11-14Y, and 15-19Y. My friend Michelle Vincent with help from Kelly Foster Peay, started this pageant fundraiser in honor and memory of Emma Ford. Over the last several years, it keeps growing to help so many families at St. Jude. Some of the crowns that can be won, not only honors Emma but there are other sashes in memory of or honor of a childhood cancer patient.

INSPIRATIONAL SUPREME - In Memory of Alivia Faith Burgess

The contestant who raised the most money for St. Jude was awarded the Batting for Brock Supreme, named for Brock Pederson, who passed away from cancer on April 20th, 2020. Just before passing, he raised $1345 from his hospital bed for the 'Cuties for a Cure' pageant.
