Metalsa-Hopkinsville Expansion Will Add 97 Jobs Over 15 Years
More job opportunities for western Kentucky sounds like a great way to kick off spring. So it's a tip of the hat to Metalsa.
Metalsa Structural Products manufactures chassis structures for light and commercial combustion engines, as well as hybrid and battery electric vehicles. So I guess a tip of the chassis to Metalsa.
It's been announced that the company's Hopkinsville operation will be adding 97 full-time jobs over the next few years as plans get underway for improvements to the existing facility.
Governor Andy Beshear made the announcement Thursday about the upgrade, which is expected to be completed by October 2022.
Metalsa has three operating facilities in Kentucky. In addition to Hopkinsville, there's one here in Owensboro and another in Elizabethtown. The total workforce is north of 2,800 employees...with 97 more to come.
Now these are very well-paying jobs. According to a news release from the governor's office, the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority has "preliminarily approved a 15-year incentive agreement with the company under the Kentucky Business Investment program."
These 97 full-time jobs will be added over the course of the next 15 years and will be paying, on average, $29/hour plus benefits.
That is astounding and so welcome.
KEDFA has also approved Metalsa for up to $100,000 in tax incentives through the Kentucky Enterprise Initiative Act.
