Owensboro Health Regional Hospital Postpones Elective Surgeries
Owensboro Health Regional Hospital is postponing all elective surgeries requiring an overnight stay through January 21st, 2022. The announcement was made due to a surge in COVID-19 cases and the need to maintain their normal scheduling patterns.
The Omicron variant has led to record-breaking rates of new cases in Daviess County and all over the tri-state. It even caught up with me on Christmas Eve, but luckily I recovered quite quickly. Although Omicron is less severe than other variants, it's causing many hospitalizations.
On Tuesday, January 11th, 2022, the Green River District Health Department (GRDHD) reported 1,506 new confirmed COVID-19 cases with 849 in Daviess County, 55 in Hancock County, 321 in Henderson County, 39 in McLean County, 140 in Ohio County, 60 in Union County, and 42 in Webster County. These reported cases were investigated between January 7th and January 10th, 2022. The sheer number of cases has led to many hospitalizations in the area.
This is why Owensboro Health Regional Hospital is beginning to postpone elective surgeries through January 21st, 2022.
Our thoughts and prayers are with the doctors, nurses, and staff as they continue to battle a surge in COVID-19 cases. We appreciate your service and sacrifices to keep us safe and healthy.
