If you were expecting an emergency alert test from the President this Thursday, don't panic, the test has been pushed back a couple of weeks.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) which oversees the the wireless emergency alert system, has announced the test will be pushed back to Wednesday, October 3rd.

This would be the first wireless emergency alert from an American president since the EAS was put in place by the FCC in 1997. The alert was originally created to enable the Commander in Chief to speak to the nation within 10 minutes through an audio message in case of a natural disaster or a terrorist attack.

The most recent national test of this kind took place at the end of September last year.
