Hats Off to Her! Owensboro Woman Turns Heads with Custom Cowboy Hats

Andrea Wedding has always been a huge fan of hats. There's just something about 'em. They're versatile and you can accessorize virtually any outfit with a hat. It's her penchant for wearing hats that has led to Andrea's passion for making them.

Andrea now owns and operates Rustic Threads Hat Co. and she creates personalized cowboy hats for her clientele. She opened her online business after noticing small hat-making shops that were popping up at events and trade shows. So, she was inspired to do some research and learn how to make them herself. Andrea says, "I fell in love with all the endless options that hat making has to offer."

As you can see from these examples, there's a great deal of diversity in Andrea's cowboy hat designs. It's this Dolly Parton-inspired creation that initially caught my eye.

Andrea added a peacock feather and a King of Clubs to this design.

Andrea says all of her hats are completely customizable. She says, "You can add your own items or choose one of the many options" she has to offer.

Andrea adds to those 'options' almost daily. She says, "I have started thrifting and have found that to be really helpful in finding items." Those items are really all over the place thematically. She has antique charms, rusty nails, patches, bullet casings, bottle caps, wine corks, and more. If you dream it, she crafts it.

Andrea admits that making the perfect hat can be a huge challenge, but it's one she's clearly up for!

Andrea says, "I really enjoy creating and making hats." There's no doubt that she's become an 'ace' at it!
