Authorities say that 35-year-old James Kennith Decoursey was shot and killed early this morning in Tennessee.  Decoursey was wanted in connection with the murder of a Hopkinsville, Kentucky police officer.  That officer, 38-year-old Phillip Meacham (a 14-year law enforcement veteran) was shot and killed Thursday afternoon.  Authorities believe that Decoursey, acting as an officer, pulled over Meacham and then shot and killed him.  Meacham leaves behind a wife and two children.

Kentucky State Police and Tennessee authorities quickly spread the word about their search for Decoursey.  According to the Hopkinsville Police Department, that search ended overnight when Decoursey was shot and killed near a Cracker Barrel in Clarksville, Tennessee.
