Up-and-comer Tenille Townes put her own spin on a beloved Keith Urban hit, "Stupid Boy," in a new cover. A long-time fan of the iconic country artist, Townes explained in a press release that the track she chose to record has always held a particularly special place in her heart.

"I love this song so much. Keith Urban, his music and his live show have been so inspiring to me," she says. "I've always been such a big fan of his, and this song stuck with me from the first time I heard his version. There's an intensity in the lyric and the emotion of the song that makes it a favorite of mine to sing and stand for. So grateful to have had the opportunity to record my take on this song!"

Urban, who originally released "Stupid Boy" off of his 2006 album, Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing, resoundingly applauded Townes' interpretation of the track on Twitter. "THANK YOU!!!!!! I LOOOOOOVE THIS VERSION!!! Kudos to you and the legendary [producer] Jay Joyce," he wrote, including the writers behind the song in the same message.

It wasn't the first time a country star had added a female twist on the track: Cassadee Pope performed "Stupid Boy" during her winning The Voice run in 2012.

Townes is currently on the road with Dierks Bentley for his 2019 Burning Man Tour. Additionally, she'll hit the road with Miranda Lambert in the fall, as Lambert's Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars Tour returns. Additionally, the up-and-comer is expected to make her studio album debut in 2019, as she enjoys the rise of her radio single, "Somebody's Daughter."
