'Tis the season for turkey!  Thanksgiving is just around the corner and families all over the U.S. are prepping their big holiday meals. Of course, a turkey is the traditional centerpiece of that meal. As a matter of fact, I made one over the weekend.

On Friday, I had a live broadcast at Murphy Appliance Company in Owensboro. They just became our area's official Traeger Grill retailer and they're carrying the Traeger line of BBQ sauces and spice rubs.  Here's the one I bought.

As you'll notice, the packaging claims it's the "perfect pork rub", but it worked wonderfully on my turkey breast too.  Seriously! I used about a fourth of the container, rubbed it into the turkey, shoved an entire stick of butter in the turkey's cavity, put the bird in a covered dish and roasted it for about three hours. The label was spot on.  It was PERFECTION.

Well, here's a fun turkey twist for you for Thanksgiving. The UK Cooperative Extension has developed a recipe that features turkey sausage. Full confession. I had not tasted turkey sausage until Katie Alexander (from the Daviess County Extension office) brought this dish in for our weekly What's Cookin'? segment on my radio show.

Take a look at this!

I told you. This is quick, easy, delicious and cost-effective. The recipes created by the UK Cooperative Extension are designed to do two things: 1) Be relatively healthy for you and 2) Feed lots of mouths for cheap. This Sheet Pan Dinner does just that.

Here's the cost breakdown for you. The Turkey Sausage Sheet Pan Dinner makes four servings (3 ounces of sausage, plus 3/4 cup vegetables).  The cost for the entire recipe is just $6.65, which makes the cost per serving just $1.66.
