Whenever I drive by Menard's out there on 54, I wonder what restaurants they plan to put in that massive parking lot. I mean, there's gotta be something, right? You could put Cowboy Stadium in that lot.

Back in December, I did a remote broadcast at Dunkin' Donuts, and I remember thinking how cool it was that Owensboro had landed a restaurant chain it had never had. And I wondered what was next.

They were already working on Logan's Roadhouse and it opened soon after. But there's so much available space out around Highway 54 and in that Menard's lot, and I can't help but think SOMETHING is going in out there.

So, whenever I do a live broadcast out in that area, I always ask the merchants with whom I'm working if they know what's planned.

See, I had heard rumors--and they are STRICTLY rumors--that Hooters and Golden Corral were going to set up shop in front of Menard's. But then I got to thinking about all the uproar a Hooters would cause coupled with the fact that I'd heard that there were no plans to put anymore Hooters Restaurants in Kentucky--again, it's just something I heard.

I also have heard talk that Golden Corral is actually closing some of its doors around the country, but I couldn't find anything that backed that up. Actually, I've seen stories about new Golden Corrals opening in Batavia, Illinois and Cape Coral, Florida. So, they're not exactly riding off into the sunset.

I don't know.

I'm not exactly sure WHAT would be the perfect additions to the ever-growing Highway 54 area. And, maybe it shouldn't even be restaurants, although this town supports a new eatery unlike anything I've ever seen.

I do know this. Right now, Owensboro is all about growth. And 54 is all about growth. It's time for the two of them to put their heads together.
