Popular Streaming Service Adds Horror Movie Filmed in Owensboro

FREEZE!  Stop right there. I have some exciting news to share about a horror film that was shot right here in Owensboro.

PJ Starks, the Owensboro-based horror movie marvel, and his team at Blood Moon Pictures, just shared some exciting news. Their film, 13 Slays Till X-Mas, was just picked up by the streaming service Tubi.  And, Tubi is letting horror movie fans stream the film for FREE.

13 Slays Till X-Mas, which is billed as a Christmas horror anthology, is set on Christmas Eve. That's when "five seemingly random men are invited to a dive bar by a mysterious e-mail. They decide to pass the time by resurrecting the old tradition of telling scary stories on Christmas Eve. As each take turns spinning yarns of yuletide terror, it becomes evident, they may be harboring a dark and deadly secret."

13 Slays Till X-Mas started production at the beginning of 2020. However, the COVID-19 pandemic halted filming in March of that year.  Thankfully, in early summer of 2020, production was able to resume and the film was eventually released in November of 2020.  13 Slays Till X-Mas was then released on Blu-ray in March of 2021.  Just over a year later, it has found a home on one of the fastest growing streaming sites around.

According to PJ, Tubi has "gained a lot of notoriety in the last few years" and has become a true destination for horror movie fans and fans of cult classics.  Those fans will not only find 13 Slays Till X-Mas available for free, they'll also find Starks' two previous films as well- Volumes of Blood and Volumes of Blood Horror Stories.

13 Slays Till X-Mas was filmed at a variety of Daviess County locations. Locations include and office building on Sweeney Street, the Heartlands subdivision, the old Milligan's Bar on 2nd Street in town, among others.

And, PJ says there were around "40 cast/crew that are Owensboro based. We also brought in talent from all over Kentucky as well as Ohio, Florida, New York, Tennessee, Indiana and Illinois"
